Most of us will also really enjoy learning about new things (especially if it is to do with a subject that we have a genuine interest in).

So there you go; two great reasons for getting yourself down to your local college!!!

How can you help your child to be a better learner? There are actually many ways to learn, and therefore there are many ways that you can enhance learning. Some children learn best when they can do something hands on as they learn. Others may learn better while they are active and using their muscles, perhaps jumping up and down. However today we will focus on quite a different aspect of increasing learning aptitudes.

One way of helping children to become good learners is through memorization. Memorization is one way of learning. It is not necessarily the most advanced way, but it is a very crucial part of being a good learner. While critical thinking is very important, there are always certain facts that must be memorized, and when a child does regular memorization, he gradually develops his skill in this area.

In our day and age, we may not see as much of a need for memorization, because if we forget facts, we can easily look them up on the internet. However when you know facts or pieces of information by heart, it can still be very handy many times in life.

There are many different types of things that you can have your child memorize. For example, you can have him memorize phone numbers, such as your home phone number, your cell phone numbers, and perhaps a number or two in case of an emergency. Even if your child normally carries a phone with him, there is always the possibility that it will get lost or stolen, or that it will be out of battery at the time when he needs to make an urgent call. You could even have him memorize what type of medical supplies he needs, if he has health problems, and is in need of certain medications, or such things as insulin. Math facts, such as the multiplication or addition table also fall into this category of memorization.

An especially important category of information that you can work with your child on to increase learning ability is to have your child memorize poems, verses, a short story, or facts, such as science or history facts. At first you will want to start with short passages, and gradually increase the length as your child gets practice and becomes good at memorization. Although your child may not like it at first, but keep at it. It can be an encouragement if you are willing to memorize with him. As you memorize, be sure that what you are learning is meaningful and wholesome, as what children learn at young ages can stick with them the rest of their lives.

Have you ever talked to someone who can speak multiple languages and wondered how they can manage this but you struggle so much with remembering a few basic words? In that case, chances are you haven’t developed the phenomenal trick known as association.

Association is when you match the sound of a word with an image in your mind: the logic of this technique is that every time you see the object or a memory triggers it – and it might be anything, from a complex scientific word to a word which is obscure and hard to remember – you associate that object or thing with a vision in your mind which is linked back to the original word or name. Over time, this becomes a wealth of knowledge, and you know what? It genuinely works. It’s how I have learned languages such as German, and it’s a trick which absolutely anyone can use (although the effect will largely depend on how much the person practices the technique).

…the words will appear in your mind, along with the image…

Looking to learn more? Let’s look at these hints:

1) Let’s say you want to remember the words nationwide fuels for later on when you’re giving a presentation. You don’t want to use notes, so instead you’ll remember the words by connecting them to an image. The image? An oil pump which is in your mind. That way, when someone mentions the word oil – which they will, as it is closely associated to the words you’re trying to recall – the words will appear in your mind, along with the image. Suddenly, your memory has improved!

2) Don’t expect to get good at this overnight. You’ll need to practice!

3) Another technique I find helpful is imagining me scoring the word onto a brick wall in my mind. That way, it is there forever, and I seem to have a much easier time of remembering it whenever I need to (as with a new word in a new language).

For more on remembering, be sure to see the video!

The brain is the most powerful part of the body. It is the part that controls every visible and invisible part of our being. Without a properly functioning brain none of the body functions will perform properly. From the day a child is born it starts learning little by little. Even as the brain develops the capacity to learn also increases and therefore allows the person to learn more. If you would want a computer to decide something for you, then you will need to provide it with data on the basis of which it will analyze and provide you with its decisions. In order to feed data on the computer, the computer must have the capacity to receive the data. If the computer does not have the capacity, then it cannot receive the data and therefore will not be able to process any decision for you.

Our brain works in the exact same way. Decisions are what make a person successful and for excellent decision making skills you need to retain as much data or information as possible. In order to retain information you need to have higher learning capacity or brain capacity. There are many books that you can read to learn how to increase the capacity of your brain. Like the book Brain for all seasons by William H Calvin, the cover picture of which I recently saw on a display stand.

Apart from reading books you can also focus on various kinds of food that can boost the capacity of your brain, especially the memory level. Since long fish oil has been used by many for this purpose. There are some special fats found in fish oil that is highly beneficial for the brain. Nuts and dark chocolate are also good source of antioxidants that can help you with concentration and memory.

In the harsh and fast-changing scenario of businesses today, you often expect your employees to be versatile and doing jobs of several people. However, this business objective can be met only if the employees are sufficiently motivated to performance relentlessly. Therefore, a performance appraisal becomes your tool to ensure that your employees are assessed for their performances and then, can be rewarded or reprimanded to ensure that they deliver their optimum performance.

A good performance appraisal should be able to:

Motivate your employees such that they know their goals and become progressive enough to achieve them on realistic timescales

Reward and benefit good performers to ensure that the great work and best performers are recognized

Mitigate attrition because good employees are your most precious assets

Keeping the objectives of performance appraisals in your organization, you should plan and conduct them on a regular basis. Here are few tips you should follow to make your checklists and set your performance parameters for an appraisal.

Goal setting

The performance appraisal should result in setting performance goals for an employee. Goal setting should be taken up by the immediate managers and should involve the employee to be appraised. Of course, these goals should be realistic and must consider the current skill level and desired skilled level of each individual involved in the appraisal process.

Continual Appraisal

A closed feedback loop is one of the essential requirements of an appraisal. What makes it more useful is the continuous availability of managers to listen to their subordinates. Continually running appraisals may not be formalized but they do provide effective means to ensure that employees are motivated and recognized without waiting for an entire year.

Ease and efficiency of appraisal

Whether yours is a business having several I.T. executives or a company dealing in bathroom fitting surrey, it’s important that the process of appraisal is kept simple and uniform across employees. This will ensure a better and useful communication between the employees and the management at all times.

Most workplaces these days are happy to encourage their employees to take as many training courses as they like, provided they are relevant to their current job and not just a CV builder and provided that they don’t sign up for so many programmes that they’re never in the office! It is fairly obvious what employees get out of it – new skills that they can use now and in the future as well as sense that they are appreciated and encouraged by their boss – but what do employers get out of sending their staff on courses when they could be in the office doing a hard day’s work?

The big clue is in what I just said about employees feeling good about themselves and their company when they are sent on training courses. It shows that the employee believes in them and feels they have a future with the company and happy employees are more productive employees. There have actually been extensive studies done on the subject, despite the connection being so obvious that builders north London could figure it out in between tea breaks. Sorry about that mini-rant. We’re having some %u201Cwork%u201D done at the moment, though actually all we seem to be paying for is teabags, biscuits and his petrol while he drives around looking for supplies…

Of course, employees also get tax breaks for sending their staff on courses to learn new and interesting things. That’s why you will often find bosses and HR departments surprisingly happy to pay for training that has the most tenuous link to what you do on a day-to-day business. After all, if it barely costs them anything for the course itself and you come back a happy, harder working employee, then it really is the ultimate win-win situation for everyone!

A business person would be more than definitely using banking as a main option for financial dealings - no matter whether you offer office refurbishment services or sell hard production, the bank seems to be your best friend. Hardly are there any business structures that turn to other financial service providers for money management. But every business leader must know one thing about banks - that no matter how reliable and string they might appear, they can always trick you or let you down. This is the reason why a business owner must research and know his business bank otherwise he might well be endangered by unreasonable banking conduct.

Here are some rather ‘educational'steps on how to gain familiarity with your bank and ensure that you are not surprised by a sudden banking failure which would undermine your financial well being.

Research the banking regulations operational in the country. Thus you would know your rights should a bank misappropriate your mutual client-banker relationship. Banking regulation familiarity would also give you an insight into the world of financial dealings and you would know how to act in order to avoid financial distress should your bank encounter any problems in the future.

Research your own bank - this is a relatively easy step to complete. Read about the bank’s history and its main priorities and objectives. Thus you would know what financial conduct to expect from your financial institution. For example, you would certainly know whether the bank is likely to engage in serious risk takings endangering your deposited money once you read the general opinions about the institution and compare them to its recent history.

Finally, compare your bank to the competition. Should you find something more suitable for your business, do not hesitate to switch your business financial services provider.
Do you train your employees to manage finances properly? At first glance, you may feel that retaining this area in your hands may be advisable. However, as your business increases, you may be compelled to delegate the task of managing daily accounts in the hands of a single employee. However, proper financial management is not restricted to maintaining regular accounts. It involves many other tasks ranging from proper calculation of expenses to identifying income opportunities early.

You may have gone in for numerous unsecured business loans in the past. You may have realized the importance of making all your interest payments in a prompt manner after committing defaults. Providing financial training to your employees and encouraging them to manage their finances properly can help you enhance our productivity at work. A person who is worried about his or her home getting foreclosed will obviously not work properly.

He or she may even enter into private financial transactions with your customers without your consent. To face these problems and to try and tackle them after they have arisen does not make sense. Instead, your focus should be on conducting financial planning seminars in such a manner that your employees take better care of their finances.

You can also present such training sessions as an attempt to discover hidden skills and talents in your employees. A marketing expert may not be very keen on shifting to accounts but knowing that a person can be shifted to this area may help you retain talent in the event you are compelled to fire certain employees. All in all, this will be a wise investment that will lead to returns in the long run.

Catch a Human Resource consultant in a light and frivolous mood and he may tell you that the industrial training sessions that are conducted for employees serve no real purpose. There are many organizations that conduct sexual harassment awareness programs in their organizations simply because they want to avoid the prospect of negative industrial claim at a later date.

They just want to enjoy the option of specifying that they have conducted detailed seminars and workshops to promote awareness amongst their employees. The point whether such awareness occurs or not is not the concern of the organization. In such a scenario, you should pay special attention to the training programs conducted in your organization. Although a lot of noise may be made on an official basis, you can easily find out, on unofficial basis, whether the training program is to be taken seriously or not.

Make sure you pose your query in such a manner that you are not accused of lack of concern and respect. Of course, you should be good at what you do otherwise you will be accused of being incompetent. Identifying such training programs early will help you avoid complications and difficulties in management of deadline.

If you are smart enough, you can make use of the right training sessions to enhance your skills and attend other training sessions as a formality. At the end of the day, you will not be fired unless you are a bad performer. Make sure your performance is good and focus on goal oriented and pragmatic training sessions. That is the best way to proceed.

It is reasonable to expect any individual with good education to understand the importance of securing one’s assets. A person with formal training in qualification will definitely understand the importance of securing business assets property. In such a scenario, to leave your assets unsecured simply because they happen to exist inside the computer does not make sense. You would not walk out of the office without locking the door, right? Then how can you allow your computer to access the internet without adequate virus protection?

Your business may not transact business online and you may not have to worry about losing money through the internet. However, you must be aware of the possibility of being hacked for the long term. A person who recognizes your flaw may gain access to your computer and may not utilize it immediately.

Rather, he or she may wait for you to grow bigger before striking. You cannot discount the possibility of such a theft. Rather than regretting your mistake at a later date, you would do well to get the best possible virus protection as early as possible.

It is also important to segregate certain aspects and components of your business through physical separation. Have a computer that is not connected to the internet. Make sure that you transfer information from and to the computers through a strictly regulated environment. Have all your private business details on that computer.

You should be a position to access it without any difficulty but it should be secure from outsiders with equal ease. Such an approach will help you in the long run and will protect you from internet frauds and others such transactions.
